STAND’s advocacy efforts centre on reducing alcohol and drug related harms by actively promoting, educating and advocating for law and policy reform that is less harmful to people’s health and safety as well as their ability to realize their human rights.
Our work includes the provision of education and sensitization training to all Sectors of Government and Civil Society Organizations on practical and effective methods of working with alcohol and substance dependent populations without stigma and discrimination; and actively advocating for the removal of barriers to treatment for women, by promoting gender centric, non-stigmatizing, access to treatment, healthcare, and support services.

CEO – Stacey Doorly-Jones is a founding member of the WFAD Global Gender Committee – advocating for Gender Centric, Non-Stigmatized Drug and Alcohol Treatment for women with drug dependencies on a global scale.
STAND is a member of the Vienna NGO Committee, with its CEO, Stacey Doorly-Jones selected for exclusive speaking engagements and panelist positions –such as partnering with VNGOC (Vienna NGO Committee on Narcotic Drugs), NYNGOC (New York NGO Committee on Narcotic Drugs), and UNODC (United Nations Office for Drugs and Crime) Civil Society Unit at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Partnership Forum to share STANDS contribution work towards the central role of civil society in drug policies, COVID-19. and achieving the 2030 Agenda.
Presenting as an expert Panelist at Africa Drug Policy Week Conference 2023 on the topic of Women in Harm Reduction: Addressing Strategies for Women Using Drugs and Alcohol in Rural Communities; and at the UNODC and Vienna NGO Committee on Drugs – Civil Society’s Crucial Role in Delivering Optimal Drug-Related Services and Upholding International Drug Policy Commitments.
CEO, Stacey Doorly-Jones was selected as a special Task Team Member for the Western Cape Provincial Substance Sector Forum during the COVID pandemic period April 2020 to December 2021.
