STAND’s work in addressing Gender based Violence includes interventions and strengthening capacity for the delivery of gender responsive services for women who are drug and alcohol dependent with a special focus on women in remote regions of the Western Cape, South Africa.
- Conducting of rapid GBV assessments.
- Development of a training manual for the facilitation of Gender Based Violence & Harm Reduction groups for drug dependent women in Shelters – commissioned and endorsed by the United Nations Region of Southern Africa.
- Delivery and training and capacitation on GBV and Reducing Harms.
- Establishment and formalization of Independent Network Groups of vulnerable women in Rural Regions.
- Capacitate women on how to establish, run and grow their networks of support.
- Seek and link the networks to opportunities in accessing small community grants that result in economic empowerment.
- Capacitate women in advocacy work to strengthen their voices and raise their level of self-worth.
